There have been a lot of posts lately about burnout. Bloggy burnout.
Alison wrote about doing less as a result of running out of fuel.
Kim wrote about finding balance in unplugging.
Jessica wrote about blogging less and breathing more.
And probably lots of others. (Have you written about it? Fire a link at me.)
We all go through that at times. Some scale back and worry it will mean they won’t be The Next Big Thing. Others scale back and find they write better and enjoy blogging more when it’s not such a big part of their day-to-day. And some, of course, quit altogether.
I haven’t found the secret or the magic balance. Lord knows I blab blog too much. After my relatively brief time here, however, I have developed a philosophy. And thus I present to you The Blogger’s Manifesto:

Robin, that is an AWESOME manifesto!
(and thank you for the shoutout!)
Yes, this! So awesome!
And thank you!!
Very good manifesto. I’ve heard many people complaining about burnout and I have felt it at times but I’ve changed my attitude lately and it has really helped me. Blogging is fun for me and I’m not going to stress about it.
This made me laugh (the bit about cyber-crickets)! Heart this, thank you!
an absolutely fantastic manifesto… i hope that you don’t mind if i share it!
i’ve been working on one for my family and thinking about one for work too…
Boy have I heard those cyber crickets lately, but I’m going to print your manifesto and hang it on my wall!
Thanks so much
Oh I love this. It’s perfect.
love the manifesto, lady! It’s wise. And pretty. And powerful. Three of my favorite things!
Can we have that made poster size …
latley i need to read this every.single.day …
AMEN! i love every single word.
Love, love, love the manifesto and my favorite? “Be bright and be brief” totally words to blog by. Thanks so much for the mention.
BEAUTIFUL! I need to remember this whenever I get down on myself about blogging.
Oh, my problems are so different:
I just want to READ IT ALL!!!!!
Ahhh, this is wonderful!!! I pinned it. I agree, we should all just chill out….we can only do so much and sometimes we have to hear crickets!! They aren’t all winners and that’s OK!
Yay! Love it. You should make t-shirts. Or coffee mugs. Something.
You know you’re a freakin genius right?
Absolutely perfect.
This is great and so true.
I love this so damn much.
i think that my problem lies in wanting to read all the people’s blogs I run into…it is so time consuming but oh so addicting. That’s what pulls me away from my family…which is a no no.
I love this. Really.
I think that at one time or another or many times we’ve all been burnt out and it can be hard sometimes. Eventually we all come back to blogging and best of all everyone is still here waiting for us.
LOVE LOVE LOVE… I’m retweeting, pinning and Stumbling this!
I did write about writer’s block recently: http://www.lettersforlucas.com/2011/10/finding-the-words/
LOVE IT! I need to remember to accept the cyber-cricket days!! I’ve had a few lately and believe I am taking them way too personally!! Thanks for the reminder, I will look back on this often while I find my way!
This is great and oh so true!
Absolutely love this!
Absolutely brilliant!
This is great! I’ve been MIA lately but I’m not going to let it bother me.
I have sort of blogged on a related note, but not technically “burnout”. I’m still working on giving my own blog a makeover of sorts.
I can particularly relate to the cyber-crickets, and the guilt over reading/commenting.
Yep. This. I took time off last week and I’m having a hard time getting back into the swing of things. I think the the hardest thing for me is the commenting. I know that giving comments means GETTING comments. LOL And as much as I enjoy writing just for me, I really do love the feedback. It’s hard to strike that balance.
That was amazing, I appreciate you sharing it!
I absolutely love this!
This is amazing. I love this! All bloggers should print this out and save it
Love this! I couldn’t have written it better myself.
Not only is the sentiment great, but the graphics make it kick ass!
“Write one thing a week that scares you.” Great idea! Being real isn’t always comfortable.
Perfect!! Especially the one about guilt, it’s so true!! I always feel guilty if I don’t respond to comments or write posts in a timely fashion……
Love this! I would add “Practice Zen Blog Reading”. I wrote about that once. It’s what I believe is how it works for me. There are some blogs I read religiously cuz I’ve gotten to know the bloggers behind them, but then there are some that I am LED to, and I swear I read something that is relevant to my day or week or whatever. Or, I’m introduced to a new friend.
I have to say I’ve felt a bit frustrated by all the burnout I’ve seen cuz to me, blogging is just something I do. It’s part of who I am now. I’m ot worried about it and have no set expectations for it. It’s my refuge from the rest of what stresses me, so I’m not about to let blogging stress me out.
Nice job, I especially love the part about writing something that scares you. I think I have written about burnout or writer’s block more than I write about other things, here’s one http://www.shesuggests.com/2011/10/12/my-blog-is-constipated/
