There’s a group of bloggers livin’ it up and sharing stuff about their lives. They started with a life list link-up and have now moved on to a “life well lived” link-up, which involves making a list of things you’ve done (cool stuff, accomplishments, you know the drill). I’ve done some cool stuff, so I figured I’d play along.
Here’s the list of things I’ve done. (And if you read this blog with any regularity some of this will not be news to you. But some will. Trust me.)
I have:
Played a Muppets song at my wedding
Sat on a boat in the middle of the ocean with no land visible
Gone snowshoeing
Kissed the Blarney Stone
Dyed a blue streak in my hair
Been published on Huffington Post
Lived and worked in Australia
Driven across the Australian outback with a group of truckers I had just met
Gone on two solo backpacking trips
Gone to the Olympics
Driven halfway across Canada with my parents and siblings (when I was an adult)
Quit my job when I didn’t have another to go to because I knew I needed a change (twice)
Done a TEDx talk
Learned to read and write Russian
Had a C-section
Had a natural birth
Sung a lullaby to a baby
Gone skinny dipping
Spent a weekend in Vegas
Completed a master’s degree
Seen Lionel Richie in concert (What? I was, like, 9)
Worked as a telemarketer
Driven an ice cream truck for the summer
Confessed to embarrassing things on my blog
Trained a puppy
Very painfully learned to drive a stick shift
Kept a major secret for 18 years (so far)
Lent someone money
Driven through a tunnel that’s 25 km (16 miles) long
Said “I love you” to someone
What would be on your list?

So happy to have known you through many of those very cool things! Makes me think about and appreciate some of the cool things I’ve done, which also includes skinny dipping…in Greece.
Ooh, that would be fun.
I’ve gone skinny dipping. It felt delicious. I never want to wear a bathing suit to swim again. Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure the public pools would frown on showing up au naturale.
My list would include mission trips to Panama and Mexico, visiting Canada to work at a youth conference, being a volunteer firefighter, a brief stint in the Army until I got hurt doing PT, having 3 children, 2 drug-free childbirths, 2 cross country moves, being at home when a tornado hit our house when I was almost 7… that’s a few.
Wow, that’s a great list! Some amazing things.
Holy moley, Robin, you’ve done some incredible things!!
I know – I’m lucky. But so have you, I’m sure!
I love your list! I’ve always wanted to kiss the blarney stone.
It was cool, but I suggest you don’t actually kiss it. Apparently young, drunk Irishmen like to come and pee on it to spite the tourists.
What have I done? I don’t even want to think of some of them!
Yes you do.
It truly is amazing when you write it down like this.
I think I may need to – being home all the time makes me feel like I’m useless and have been for far too long.
Oh, you totally should. You’d have a great list.
What a cool idea – and some amazing things you have done.
I did not go down to Vancouver for the olympics, but I got to hold a torch when it came through Merritt. It really was a special moment and a great time during the whole “party”!
I took Russian in school as well and know (knew, it’s been a while) the Russian alphabet. Came in handy when I went to Moscow in 1988…
The torch relay was very cool. I got to watch the start because I worked right next to the Parliament Buildings in Victoria at the time. I got a little choked up.
This is a wonderful list!
Thanks Tracie!
Love this. All I can think of right now is dancing to “Dancing on the Ceiling” in my living room. I wasn’t that lucky to catch him in concert.
Hee. I totally remember that – I wasn’t even really a fan but I went with a friend and her parents.
This is so awesome. What a beautiful list. And I might be super jealous of the Olympics one!
The Olympics were SO fun. Especially because they were in Canada and the vibe was just so great.
Lady, Just watched that TedTalk. Wow. You are an inspiration.
Thank you so much
You have done some amazing things in your life! I love the idea of writing this down. Being home and ‘just’ being Mommy all day every day kind of makes you forget all of the wonderful things you’ve done in your life. Maybe I should write mine down too, if only to remind myself that I AM someone outside of a mom.
You should totally do it. I know your list would have incredible things on it. And it’s fun to think back and make a list.
That is a great list!!! Go You!!
